European Unitarian Universalists
Once the UU Basel fellowship had gotten off to a start in 2010, I linked in with the European UU association of fellowships, immediately applying for affiliation of the new Basel group and was awarded a development grant from the EUU to buy a keyboard. I was actively involved with the Coordinating Council of the EUU for many years. I was elected to be their representative to the International Council of Unitarians and Universalists in 2011, and became further involved in serving our global faith.
I continue to attend EUU conferences, involved in planning, leading workshops, and supporting visiting speakers in creating worship. I will coordinate Chalice Circle sessions for the June 2019 joint retreat with the EUU and the German Unitarians.
The EUU is made up of individual members, about half of whom also are members of English-speaking UU fellowships in Europe. The others are "Members at Large", or those who do not have a fellowship nearby to attend. The congregations and organization are entirely lay-led, with fellowships meeting once or twice monthly and the EUU organizing two retreats each year, usually inviting guest speakers from overseas.
Some recent speakers have been; Rev. Mark Morrison-Reed, Rev. Diane Rollert, Rev. Mark Belletini, Rev. Dr. Marlin Lavanhar, Rev. Dr. Bill Schultz, Rev. Dr. Meg Riley, Rev. Barbara Prose, Rev. Bill Sinkford, Rev. Peter Morales. It has been a privilege and pleasure to connect with these esteemed colleagues in this setting.
